Profile Information

What is your full name (first and last)?
Del Ketcham
What state do you live in?
Wiscasset, Maine
How would you characterize the place where you live?
Rural
What is your primary organization affiliation?
Starting my own food producing farm in Wiscasset.
What other food and agriculture organizations are you involved with?
I am on the the Eat Maine Food web site and participate occasionally with comments about food security issues.
Do you grow any of your own food?
Yes
What aspect of food and agriculture are you most passionate about?
I wish I could get more of a handle on what is actually happening with food security efforts in Maine. I have not tried very hard because it gets cumbersome and confusing. If I find it difficult, think about the person who know nothing to little. They get discouraged and don't want to bother. Another passion of mine is to get our work introduced to more poor and marginalized people.

Hi Dell: Hope your garden is flourishing. I just got an Email telling me that a Maine Organization "Partners in Ending Hunger" will not be able to continue their work and apparently is folding. Its disappointing, the disconnect between people, food, and money --- Organizing here in Maine is tough and getting food to less affluent folks gets tougher in winter than it is right now. I wish you well with your garden and work on our food systems, we can work together on many things if we communicate so let me know if there's something brewing that partnership and/or organizing can help.

Hi Del: We're at Emma's Family Farm in Windsor. Neighbors, sort of, I guess (by a half hour's drive:) What are you growing or raising? Hope the spring is treating you well.
