USDA "Access to Pasture" comment period deadline

On Thursday, October 24, 2008, USDA produced its long-awaited Proposed "Access to Pasture" Rule. This proposed Rule has a 60-day comment period - comments must be received by December 23, 2008. While this Rule is not perfect, it does hold to the tenet of a strict requirement for access to pasture for organically produced livestock. It will take a lot of hard work by the organic community to develop clear, consistent comments for a final rule that will do justice to this basic tenet while making implementation reasonable.
